Optic Nerve Regeneration and Recovery in African Spiny Mouse (Acomys)

Acomys has garnered attention for its exceptional regenerative abilities, demonstrated in various tissues including skin, muscle, and cartilage. Recently Acomys has shown the ability to regenerate its spinal cord after complete transection. This project is concerned with examining another part of the central nervous system, namely the optic nerve. Understanding the mechanisms underlying optic nerve regeneration in Acomys could provide valuable insights into regenerative biology and potentially inform strategies for treating optic nerve injuries in humans.
